OUR SERVICES

Domiciliary Care

Bryson Care was commissioned to deliver domiciliary care services in Northern Ireland in 1999. We currently deliver across the Belfast, South Eastern, and Western Health & Social Care Trust areas.
On a yearly basis our team of over 500 highly trained and skilled Domiciliary Care Workers deliver over 540,000 care hours supported by dedicated Registered Managers, Quality Assurance Officers, Service Managers and Team Leaders. We are registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).
The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) and the Trust Governance Team have recognised that our Domiciliary Care Workers provide professional, high quality, RQIA ‘compliant plus’ domiciliary care to over 1,000 Service Users across Northern Ireland from all of the Trust’s identified Service User groups.

The Domiciliary Care Service and What we Offer

Our delivery goes beyond the Department for Health, Social Services and Public Safety Domiciliary Care Agencies Minimum Standards, and RQIA has deemed us safe, effective and compassionate in the delivery of core domiciliary care tasks as defined by the Trust’s Care Plan.

We ensure services are delivered to promote the values which underpin the Domiciliary Care Agencies Minimum Standards: dignity and respect, independence, human rights, equality and diversity, choice, safety, and confidentiality. We build these values into the competencies of every role within our Domiciliary Care Services which impacts positively on day-to-day delivery of services.

Our Domiciliary Care Service provides a needs-led service to Service Users who by reason of illness, disability or family circumstances require additional support / assistance to remain at home for as long as possible and facilitate them to reach their full potential.

Bryson Care takes an individualised approach to each Service User and their needs, context and background. Staff recognise that each person has a history, a story and self-image which must be respected at all times and honoured by the behaviour of our staff. Within the confines of ensuring safe, effective and compassionate service delivery, Service Users’ choice is consistently accommodated. This key aspect of the vision we hold for our services is implemented via training, our delivery model and primary processes. The result of our delivery is a culture of independence, choice and recognition of personal effort that is applicable to all users.

Bryson Domiciliary Care Services is Service User-centric and we work collaboratively with Trust services to achieve a coordinated approach, quickly reaching the best outcomes for Service Users. We ensure that any changes in Service Users’ needs are communicated rapidly to the Trust Key Worker or Domiciliary Care Out-of-Hours Co-ordinator.

We provide personal care, domestic / practical care and emotional support to enable Service Users to maintain their independence and give them as much control as possible over their daily living. This includes support with getting in and out of bed; showering and bathing; toileting; all other personal hygiene tasks; management of continence, stoma, and catheter care; skin care and integrity; administration of medication; fluid and dietary monitoring; preparation of meals; encouraging a physical exercise regime; documenting all care provided; and reporting any concerns. Support can also be provided with domestic tasks in order to maintain safe and hygienic standards.

Our Care Workers pay particular attention to small signs of change, low mood, additional tiredness, poor appetite and perhaps a need to talk about their worries and fears. Care Workers are highly experienced at adjusting their activities and to record the change in the care plan notes. A key facet of our Care Worker delivery is active listening and action.

Bryson Care is committed to ensuring that Service Users experience person-centred care which reflects their holistic Assessment of Need and Care/Support plan. We work closely with Service Users, family members, the Trust and other professionals to ensure individual care plans evolve to meet changes. This requires effective engagement to deal with a continually evolving situation as well as an agile response. This ability to flex is critical to how we provide our service, and our team are highly adept to adjusting service delivery to meet changing requirements. This is significantly aided by our strong, permanent local presence in the Trust area, where we have a significant strength in our ability to be highly responsive to Trust and Service User requirements.

The Domiciliary Care Service incorporates an option of purchasing the service on a private basis which is paid directly by the service user/carer.
