Community Root Cause
Your Pathway to Community and Household sustainability and growth
Root Cause
This innovative area of work involves identifying the personal and household barriers individuals and families are facing; and removing these root causes through a range of various community focussed initiatives.
Initiatives are themed under health, income, education, employment and environment. Services are tailored to meet the needs of the community and to make the greatest difference to the greatest need.
We currently work in 5 communities in Belfast, Lisburn, Newtownabbey & Derry/Londonderry; and aim to grow to work 5 more communities over the next 3 years.

Healthy Futures
Healthy Futures delivers programmes which promote low-cost healthy eating and the benefits of cooking with a low energy cooking appliance such as air fryer or slow cooker.
Through this, we facilitate the delivery of short-term courses and support to individuals and groups living on a low income with the aim of increasing their skills and knowledge around purchasing and preparing food on a limited budget whilst meeting nutritional needs.
Service users will learn about healthy food choices, safe food preparation, reducing food waste, shopping on a limited budget, cooking with low energy appliances (air fryer or slow cooker) and food storage. This will support individuals, parents etc to improve their overall health and financial outcomes on a short- and long-term basis.

Crisis Intervention
Crisis Intervention Workers will work with individuals and families identified by Bryson staff as needing additional intensive support on a short term basis.
Crisis Intervention Workers will visit people in their own homes and support the person to assess their current needs and offer support, guidance and signposting to enable them to improve their current circumstances.
The service supports individuals to address issues such as budgeting, behavioural support, diet & nutrition, housing issues, social isolation etc and will advise on other appropriate services offered by Bryson, or other organisations.
